Amish Onion Fritters Recipe
Ingredients:
🔸 ½ cup All-purpose flour
🔸 1 tablespoon Cornmeal
🔸 1 tablespoon Granulated sugar
🔸 2 teaspoons Baking powder
🔸 ½ cup Whole milk
🔸 2 cups Chopped onions
🔸 Salt and pepper to taste
🔸 Oil for frying
Instructions:
1️⃣ Combine Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, milk, and chopped onions. Season with salt and pepper to your liking. Stir everything together until well mixed.
2️⃣ Heat Oil: Pour about ½ to 1 inch of oil into a deep-sided skillet and heat over medium-high heat. Wait until the oil reaches at least 175 degrees Fahrenheit (use a kitchen thermometer to check).
3️⃣ Fry Fritters: Once the oil is hot, carefully drop the batter by the tablespoonful into the skillet. Gently spread out the batter to form fritters. Let them brown on one side before flipping to brown the other side.
4️⃣ Drain: After both sides are nicely browned and the fritters are cooked through, remove them from the oil and let them drain on a paper towel-lined rack to remove any excess oil.
5️⃣ Serve: Serve the fritters hot, accompanied by sour cream or your favorite dipping sauce.
