Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate (optional)

Preparation:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan and line it with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until the butter turns golden brown and gives off a nutty aroma. Be careful not to burn it. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Slowly pour the browned butter into the sugar mixture, whisking constantly until fully incorporated.
  5. Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt into the bowl. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. If desired, fold in the chocolate chips or chopped chocolate for an extra burst of chocolate goodness.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Remove from the oven and let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
