KFC Coleslaw Recipe – OMG, It’s So Good!
This recipe recreates the beloved KFC coleslaw with its signature creamy, sweet, and tangy flavor. It’s a perfect match for fried chicken, BBQ, or as a refreshing side dish. Best of all, it’s easy to make at home!
Ingredients
- 1 medium head of green cabbage (about 8 cups, finely chopped)
- 2 medium carrots (peeled and grated)
- ¼ cup finely diced onion
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- ¼ cup milk
- ¼ cup buttermilk
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
1. Prepare the Vegetables
- Finely chop the cabbage and grate the carrots. Aim for small, even pieces for a texture similar to KFC’s. Combine the cabbage, carrots, and diced onion in a large mixing bowl.
2. Make the Dressing
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, milk, buttermilk, sugar, vinegar, lemon juice, salt, and pepper until smooth.
3. Mix the Coleslaw
- Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture. Toss everything together until well coated.
4. Chill and Serve
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results. This allows the flavors to blend and the cabbage to soften slightly.
- Give it a good stir before serving.
