Korean-style cream cheese garlic bread is a popular street food in Korea known for its deliciously cheesy, garlicky, and indulgent flavors. Here’s a recipe to make it at home:
Ingredients:
For the bread:
- 4 large bread rolls or baguettes
- 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 4 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional)
- Pinch of salt
For the garlic butter sauce:
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons honey
- Pinch of salt
For the cream cheese filling:
- 8 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
For the topping:
- 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional)
Preparation:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Slice the bread rolls or baguettes into cross-hatch patterns, making sure not to slice all the way through. Set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, cream cheese, minced garlic, chopped parsley (if using), and a pinch of salt. Mix until well combined.
- Spread the garlic butter mixture generously inside each slice of bread, making sure to get into the cross-hatch cuts.
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter for the garlic butter sauce over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for a minute until fragrant. Stir in the honey and a pinch of salt, and cook for another minute. Remove from heat.
- In another bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
- Stuff each slice of bread with the cream cheese filling, spreading it generously.
- Drizzle the garlic butter sauce over the top of each bread roll, making sure to coat them well.
- Sprinkle a mixture of shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese on top of each bread roll.
- Place the prepared bread rolls on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the bread is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let the bread rolls cool slightly. Sprinkle with fresh parsley (if desired) before serving.
