Spicy Potato Gratin

Spicy Potato Gratin is a comforting and flavorful dish that combines tender potatoes, creamy cheese, and a kick of spices. This gratin is perfect as a side dish or a main course, and it’s sure to be a hit with your family and guests.

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet), peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Preparation:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the minced garlic, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Arrange a layer of sliced potatoes in the bottom of the prepared baking dish, slightly overlapping them.
  4. Sprinkle a portion of the spice mixture over the potatoes, followed by a layer of shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
  5. Repeat the layering process with the remaining potatoes, spice mixture, and cheese, finishing with a layer of cheese on top.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream and milk. Pour the mixture evenly over the potato and cheese layers.
  7. Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the gratin.
  8. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden and bubbly.
  10. Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
  11. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley for added freshness and color.
