Sausage rolls

Sausage rolls are a classic and crowd-pleasing appetizer or snack that is perfect for parties, game nights, or any gathering. These golden and flaky pastries are filled with savory sausage and seasonings, making them irresistible. Serve them warm with your favorite dipping sauce for a tasty treat.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground sausage (pork, beef, or a combination)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped parsley
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 sheets of puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Preparation:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground sausage, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, parsley, garlic powder, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface into rectangles of about 10×12 inches each.
  4. Divide the sausage mixture in half. Place one portion of the sausage mixture along the length of each puff pastry sheet, forming a long log.
  5. Brush one edge of the puff pastry with the beaten egg. Roll the pastry over the sausage log, pressing the edges to seal.
  6. Cut each long roll into smaller rolls, about 1-1.5 inches wide, and place them on the prepared baking sheet, seam side down.
  7. Brush the tops of the sausage rolls with the beaten egg to give them a golden color when baked.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and let the sausage rolls cool slightly before serving.
  10. Serve the sausage rolls warm with your preferred dipping sauce.

Note: You can customize the seasonings and add spices like paprika or herbs like rosemary or sage to suit your taste preferences. Feel free to make the sausage rolls smaller or larger depending on your desired serving size.
